Autonomous SOC Agents Now Have Write Access. Defenses Don't.

Adversaries compromised AI security tools at over 90 organizations in 2025 by injecting malicious prompts, but those tools could only read data. The next generation of autonomous SOC agents now shipping can write firewall rules, modify IAM policies, and quarantine endpoints using their own privileged credentials. This escalation from read-only compromise to write-access exploitation has not yet occurred at scale in production, but the architectural conditions enabling it are deploying faster than governance frameworks designed to prevent it.
