Xi Calls for Open AI Collaboration, Signaling Shift in China's Stance

Six major tech firms, Nvidia, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta, collectively donated $92 million toward construction of a White House ballroom, according to a Washington Post report. The donations came through a mix of direct corporate contributions, individual gifts, and charitable organizations tied to the companies. Silicon Valley and crypto industry donors have reportedly delivered over $150 million total for the project.

Apple plans to launch Apple Intelligence, its on-device AI service, in mainland China in December after regulatory delays. The rollout to one of Apple's largest markets marks a significant milestone for the company's AI strategy. The release has been held up by Chinese regulatory requirements, but approval now appears imminent.

Eight US states have filed separate lawsuits against OpenAI, alleging the company violated consumer protection laws by failing to warn customers about ChatGPT's dangers and prioritizing profits over safety. The complaints reference lawsuits from families of teens and adults who claim the AI chatbot played a role in harm to their loved ones. The coordinated legal action targets OpenAI's product safety practices and disclosure obligations.

YouTube is rolling out a 'Made with AI' label for tracks that were altered or fully generated using AI tools, mirroring its existing video labeling system. The label applies to songs created with generative models for composition and vocals. Music partners must disclose AI use in uploads, and YouTube will use additional signals to identify AI-generated content if disclosure is absent.
